Editorial principles

A7i's most valuable asset is a reader's confidence in what it publishes. These are the rules that protect it.

Every figure is traceable

Every capital amount, facility status, regulatory milestone, company claim and scientific result A7i publishes traces to a source. A claim resting on a source outside A7i's source policy is removed rather than softened. Where two credible sources disagree, both are shown and the item is marked as contested.

Fact and interpretation are separated

Reporting states what happened. Analysis and A7i interpretation state what A7i thinks it means and are labelled as such on the item itself. Sponsored material is labelled Sponsored.

Every category is kept distinct

A fund size measures capital available, and capital deployed is counted separately. An announced partnership value is a commitment, distinct from money spent. A market size is annual expenditure, distinct from investment. A GDP target is a policy aspiration. Production capacity is measured in units. A7i keeps each in its own dataset so that every chart and total on this site compares like with like.

Evidence leads every field

Each field records what published evidence supports, and is filled as new evidence is verified. A7i reports the evidence it holds and lets the record grow, rather than inferring activity to complete it.

Charts are built from reported values

Every monetary figure in a chart is a reported value, never an estimate. Each transaction is tracked by scope, partner and status and counted in every graphic, with its value drawn as a monetary flow wherever one has been reported.

Language

A7i uses Australian English and precise, plain language. Promotional terms such as revolutionary, game-changing, ground-breaking or world-leading are reserved for attributed quotations from a source.

Coverage follows activity

A7i covers each country and sector in proportion to its verified activity. An active sector and a national aspiration are distinguished throughout.

Independence

A7i Intelligence is an independent publication focused on news, data and research, free of any equity, distribution or commission interest in the organisations it covers. Contributors' outside roles are disclosed in full on their profiles and inline on any article that touches them. See conflicts of interest.

Corrections
